What prevents a subscriber to Google Adsense from clicking on his own advertisements?

Question by Wifi: What prevents a subscriber to Google Adsense from clicking on his own advertisements?
I have recently started looking into Google Adsense as a possible way to make a little money off of a website. And I am just wondering what would stop an Adsense subscriber from clicking his own advertisements on his own website in order to generate revenue? Have I found a loophole in the program? Should I contact Google about it?

No need to contact Google. They have their ways of knowing whether or not you're trying to cheat them, though they don't make their methods known. But they do make it known, in their terms of service, that clicking on your own ads (especially doing it a lot) is prohibited. And many people have been admonished / kicked off for doing just that. You want to try it, go ahead. 😉
